I found James by searching on Reddit for a hairstylist and I am more than happy I went to him. He was informative, kind and made sure I was happy with every step of the process. He gave me a beautiful cut with layers and I highly recommend him. You won’t regret it.

James is amazing. He always knows what I want and it always turns out perfect!!! I have been to many salons in my life time, and Tailored by James Merrill is by far the best! I get asked all the time where I get my hair done and that makes me feel so confident in the work he does! He is a true artist when it comes to hair color and cutting!!

I went in for a consultation on haircut & color, and needed a bang trim. James said he had time for the full hair cut. He listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted...layers, layers, layers :) He has some amazing products too and explained about each that he used on me. His salon is nice and clean and has an ever so subtle scent that made it absolutely a joy to walk in to and sit down. James is incredibly pleasant himself, a really nice guy, who knows what hes doing. Im looking forward to going back for color!Review Update:Went back for highlights and I love them! Absolutely, loving my cut too! You know its a good haircut/color when strangers compliment. James ended up blowing my hair straight and then with a curling iron, used a technique Ive never seen before. He even explained how to do it myself. It turned out awesome!! Already have my next appointment set and once again cant wait to go back :)

Exceptional skill and superb customer service. Jimmy’s salon is tidy and welcoming. He makes great recommendations for hair products that I need but is never pushy. He’s really pleasant to work with.

James is detail oriented and can provide ideas to even the most clueless. I always love his styles, but its his short haircuts where he is spectacular. He does color work at affordable prices, although Ive never had it done personally. The space is private, which I love.

Cannot recommend Jimmy enough. His attention to detail is superb and his skills are top notch. My hair has never looked better! Interpersonally, he is very grounded and has great energy, making him a pleasure to work with.
